Living in Coherence

Two possible scenarios can unfold in the future:

If a certain threshold of the population is reached — convinced, and consequently changing its habits for a more measured way of life — then the rest of the population will suddenly follow. Indeed, the majority of people are "followers", because they do not have the time, or the courage, to look into the question of a lasting future for human beings if we continue to live immoderately.

Like all animals, accumulating and being lazy is a reflex embedded in us, because this reflex was a survival factor for millennia. On the other hand, unlike animals, we are lucky enough to be able to think and to be able to resist these primal instincts. Unlike animals that keep reproducing without measure and without thinking, devastating the resources indispensable to their survival until the species goes extinct, we humans have the good fortune of being able to reflect and anticipate the consequences that await us if we continue to destroy our environment and the Earth's resources without which we would not exist.

We are worth more than animals. We have the capacity to regulate our animal instincts, for the survival of the species. Let us cease our devastating habits, for the survival of the human species.

In an ideal world, when the majority of the population is convinced and already acting in the right direction, there is no longer any need for a hierarchy to impose and control anything. On the other hand, the condition for this to last: keep communicating, while staying calm. Freedom of expression, spreading as much information as possible, so that local decisions are made in full knowledge of the facts. And once again, nothing replaces face-to-face communication: let us communicate with our neighbours and those who live around us by going to see them. The day we are no longer able to maintain the Internet network, we will indeed be forced to communicate only with the people we are able to go and see within walking or cycling distance. Of course, as everywhere, there will always be, even at a local level, a few people acting contrary to what would do the most good for the majority of the population. It is then necessary to discuss and exchange with these people, while staying calm. And if, despite these attempts at discussion, it turns out that these people are harming others, that is where the forces of order step in.

In the meantime, failing the possibility of extracting ourselves from the hierarchies in place, we can at least begin to change our life habits. To take responsibility for ourselves. By concretely adopting a more measured way of life.

And by communicating calmly with others. It is through each person's understanding and desire to modify their life habits that a growing percentage of the population will, little by little, change its life habits. Until the moment when a certain percentage of the population has adopted a measured way of life — a percentage that will suddenly tip the whole rest of the population over to this new way of life.

Once we have understood the importance and the impact of our daily life habits, a whole host of spontaneous actions follows that we want to take, a whole host of daily habit changes that we want to adopt.

Starting with consuming less.

Buying fewer products and services, focusing solely on the essentials for living.

Our life habits are decisive and carry far more weight than any ballot paper.

Once we have started and set these lifestyle changes in motion, we feel an inner coherence that does us good; we feel we are on the right path; we are proud to display this social status of virtue that we have chosen, deciding to improve our habits every day to move towards an ever more measured way of life.

Action — the act of changing our habits — also makes fear and anguish disappear.

Actions in coherence with the environment and the Earth's resources, on which we depend for survival, make us happy.

With all the following benefits:

Let each of us act, starting by adopting a more measured way of life. Until the necessary percentage of the population having chosen a measured way of life is reached, so that the whole rest of the population follows suddenly, as one.

Only action can calm fear and anxiety.

Living in a time of peace is a stroke of luck. Let us make sure we stay there.
